Travel within Estes Park

During the summer, Estes Park offers free shuttle buses to several locations in town and in Rocky Mountain National Park. Please note, however, that these shuttle do not travel to Black Canyon Inn (the ceremony site).

There is also a car rental service in Estes Park, but if you are flying to Colorado you may instead find it more convenient to rent a car at the airport and drive it to Estes Park.

Travel to Estes Park

The closest major airport to Estes Park, Denver International (DEN), is approximately 75 miles away (1½ hours by car).

For those renting a car at DIA, the fastest route to Estes Park goes along part of the toll expressway E-470, with a one-way fee of about $7.55. In addition to the tolls, all of the rental car agencies charge some additional fees for toll road usage. At present, Enterprise, Alamo, and National have the lowest such fees (up to $6 + incurred tolls for the entire rental period).

The Estes Park Shuttle also provides transit between DIA and various locations in Estes Park. Round trip rides cost $85 per person, and the shuttle runs approximately every three hours.

Travel in and out of Estes Park on July 4 can be difficult, as the two main highways connecting to I-25, US-36 and US-34, become congested with higher volumes of traffic than usual. Consequently, if you plan to be in Estes Park on Thursday, July 4, you may wish to arrive early or to arrange your lodgings in town.
